First responders from the Putnam Valley Fire Department and Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to a one-car crash on Wood Street near the intersection of Secor Road at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24, Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department Public Information Officer Jack Casey said.
Casey said units from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, Carmel Police and New York State Police departments, fire crews, and paramedics from the Mahopac Volunteer Volunteer Fire Department all responded to the crash scene.
Fire crews worked to extricate the driver from the vehicle, while a helicopter was called in and was waiting on the bridge over the Taconic State Parkway while other units detoured traffic away from the scene.
Once the driver was removed, Casey said there was serious lower bodily trauma, and paramedics took the driver to the helicopter, which then flew to Westchester Medical Center.
The driver’s condition was unknown late on Thursday afternoon.
